My maternal grandfather on the Burjoski side was Jurko (George) Buchowski who was born in Serafyntsi Ukraine about 1891. Jurko is Ukrainian for George.  It's pronounced Yoorko, with the r rolled.  My maternal grandmother was Maria (Mary) Dubiniewicz who was also born in the Ukraine in 1894.  George and Mary immigrated to Canada where they met and married February 4, 1913 in Ft. William Thunder Bay Ontario Canada. Click here to see a copy of the marriage certificate.  My mother Mary Buchowski (Burjoski) Henderson was born on October 5, 1921 in Thorold Welland Ontario Canada.  My father was a long distance truck driver and was transporting tobacco from the fields in Ontario when he met my mother and married her in Delhi Ontario Canada on September 26, 1939.  My father transported her back to Florida and the rest is history.

The picture above shows my maternal grandfather Jurko (George) Buchowski, maternal grandmother Mary Dubiniewicz Buchowski (Burjoski), her mother (my maternal great grandmother) Anastozia Bobyk Dubiniewicz and the youngsters my Uncle William Buchowski (Burjoski) and my Aunt Sarah Buchowski (Burjoski).  Anastozia died in 1922 in Thorold Ontario Canada.  On her death certificate  (Click on death certificate to see a copy of the form) from Welland County authorities, her husband Nicholas Dubiniewicz indicated they had been in Canada for 9 years and both were born in Austria.  The picture was believed to have been taken in  Espanola Ontario Canada ca 1915/1916.  William was born in December of 1913 and Sarah was born in May of 1915. Much research remains to be done on George Buchowski and his family. 

Mary Dubiniewcz Buchowski (Burjoski) died on February 11, 1958 at the home of her son Michael Buchowski (Burjoski) in Thorold Ontario, Canada.  It is interesting to me that the obituary in the paper listed her name as Mary Bouchowski.   See a copy of the obituary below.
