David Edward Wunderlich Remembered

David Edward Wunderlich was born on November 4, 1932 in Harmonyville, Chester County, Pennsylvania. He married Betty Joyce Henderson on October 2, 1949.  Betty Joyce was born in Hillsborough county near Wimauma, Florida and had migrated north into Pennsylvania with her mother Hattie (my grandmother) after the death of Hattie's husband and my grandfather James Price Henderson. Dave and Betty Joyce were blessed with four daughters, Doris, Bonnie, Susan, and Shirley.  There are lots of magnificent grandchildren and great grandchildren.  The genealogy will be covered elsewhere in this web site.   "Uncle Dave" died on February 25, 2005 in Douglasville, Pennsylvania.  I will put in a few of my memories and pictures.  I will add other bits of information and possibly pictures as we receive them.  If you want to contribute send an email to the webmaster of this site: James Henry Henderson at the email address: jimhen1@ix.netcom.com.  I will post the material as it becomes available.

This is a picture of Uncle Dave at the 2004 Henderson Family Reunion.  He is shown here with Aunt Betty and their grandson Eric Eckenroth and Eric's wife and child.  The reason I show this as the first picture is that Uncle Dave genuinely enjoyed the reunions.  He talked to me personally about the great joy of getting everyone together.  He took me to the grave site of my grandfather James Price Henderson as a personal favor.  Always with a dry sense of humor and a competitive spirit, he was real proud of Eric and his family and especially for attending the reunion.  However, he wanted to know why Eric was driving a Cadillac at such a young age.

Another thing that was special about Uncle Dave, he was a leader when it came to getting things accomplished.  When we were able to find the grave marker of Henry Ford Henderson, deceased older brother of Aunt Betty, Uncle Dave led the charge for us to go to the cemetery and clean the grave marker.  He brought the supplies and helped with the work. He was very proud when we cleaned it up.  The grave marker will shine for years thanks to the efforts by Uncle Dave.  The picture to the left is of the cleaning crew at the Ponceannah Cemetery on Highway 42 in Lake County, south of Paisley, Florida.  From left to right are Mary Henderson Houston, daughter of Theodore R. Henderson; Mary Burjoski Henderson, wife of Theodore R. Henderson, James Henry Henderson, son of Theodore R. Henderson; Betty Joyce Henderson Wunderlich (Aunt Betty), and Dave Wunderlich (Uncle Dave).
