This picture was given to me by my Mom. It is a photo of the Umatilla Baptist Church Women's Circle Meeting ca 1943/1944. I am dating the picture because of the age of the young girl in the front row, Linda Coyle who is sitting in her mom's lap. On the left of Linda and her mom when looking at the picture is my mom Mary Burjoski Henderson, to her left Virginia Smith. To the right of Mrs. Coyle and Linda is Opal Merrill. I sent a copy to my friend Dan Smith and when he was in Umatilla last, he visited Mrs. Merrill and presented her with a copy of the picture. She said she did not know it had been taken. She was able to identify a few more ladies. Mrs. Merrill said that the lady next to her on her right when you are looking at the picture is Jazzie Williams. Just behind my mom in the back row is Daisy Bracy. The lady in the dark glasses fifth from the right in the back row is Thelma Merrill. We hope to identify more of these ladies in the future. |
