Visit to Jonesborough Tennessee on March 24, 2009
| Elsewhere on this website I have
discussed how I thought William Henderson my ggg grandfather got from
Virginia to northeast Alabama. I believe he travelled the Great Stage
Road which roughly parallels what today is Federal Highway U.S. 11. My
friend Jerry McDuffie had told me about Jonesborough Tennessee being the
oldest city in Tennessee so we decided to visit it late on the afternoon of
March 24, 2009. We had dinner there and I snapped some pictures of the
main part of town. I will return someday to do a bit more
exploring. The Great Stage Road ran through the middle of Jonesborough
and while I was there I imagined William Henderson riding on a horse, a
wagon or walking on his way to Knoxville where he married my ggg grandmother
Matilda King. To view the
