Jim and Barbara's Trip into New York and Pennsylvania Day 14 Part 2  September 20

On second part of Day fourteen we drove west on U.S. 422 from Douglassville to Hershey Pa.  Our goal was to get to Hershey and check in our motel and locate Barbara's first cousin Geraldine Givens Delong.  Barbara and Geraldine were not only first cousins in Eustis, Florida but they were best of friends and had lots of memories.  They were in the same classes through the first six grades at Eustis Elementary School in Eustis, Florida. Because of extenuating family circumstances, Barbara had not seen Geraldine in almost fifty years.

Geraldine and her husband Dan own a couple of Hardware stores in the Hershey, PA area.  Barbara and I are very appreciative of Geraldine for giving us the Hershey tour.  We have lots of neat pictures and Hershey is one of those special surprises that is made better by the appreciation of chocolate.

Of course, Hershey PA is the Hershey Chocolate Company.  Here are the twin stacks of the chocolate factory.  The downtown area actually smelled like chocolate. Click on the image to see a larger view of the smoke stacks.

Yes, the street lights in downtown Hershey are shaped as Candy Kisses.  Click on the image to see a larger view.

Somehow we ended up in an outlet mall.  While Barbara was shopping I walked quite a distance and shot this picture of the smoke stacks and the Hershey plant from a different angle.  Click on the image to see a larger view.

After the visit to the outlet mall, we retired for the evening and did our final washing of clothes so we could have something clean for our long and hard trip back to Kearney MO.  We have one more half day in Hershey and then "Rawhide".
