Jim and Barbara's Trip into New York and Pennsylvania Day 14 September 20
| On Day fourteen we drove north on
U.S. 422 to Douglassville Pa to visit with my Aunt Betty Joyce Henderson
Wunderlich. We took a few pictures and Aunt Betty took us to lunch at
her favorite restaurant in a nearby town. As usual, I had too many
things packed into our trip and we needed to be in Hershey Pennsylvania by
dark. So we spent some time with Aunt Betty talking about family.
Aunt Betty was four months old when James Price Henderson, her father died
so she doesn't remember him and she was 13 years old when she moved to
Pennsylvania after Hattie Louise Fuller Henderson was remarried to Spencer
Richwine in Lithia, Florida. Aunt Betty also talked about how she met
Uncle Dave. She lived in Spring City, Pennsylvania and was a junior
cheerleader in the Eighth grade when Uncle Dave's school came over for an
athletic event and she met the love of her life. While we were visiting, Aunt Betty called her sister-in-law Mrs. Joyce Yergey, who had a copy of Uncle Dave's obituary. I had met Mrs. Yergey before at the Henderson family reunion in Lithia, Florida. I was able to scan in copies of the obit and will place it on the Betty Joyce Henderson Wunderlich page, I am working on. Thanks for lunch Aunt Betty and I am sorry we were in such a hurry that we didn't get to spend time with my cousin Doris and her husband. We also missed Chad Knorr who was on midnight shifts. I hope to return again sometime and visit with all of them. Click on Images to see a full size version

Aunt Betty's deck in the back of the house enabled one to view the surrounding hills which were beginning to be sprinkled with some color. Unfortunately, I am still learning how to photograph scenes and the photos I took were blurred. So click on the image above to see Barbara and Aunt Betty enjoying the view which I can't show you.
Aunt Betty's oldest daughter and my first cousin Doris Wunderlich Knorr lives next door to Aunt Betty. While I wasn't able to visit with Doris I was able to take a picture of her beautiful back deck. I also was able to eat some of her Peach Cobbler which she had made for us. Thanks Doris, it was very good! I can see Barbara and I visiting with Doris and her husband on that deck the next time I am through the area. Click on the image to see a larger view.
Well, once again we had a short visit as we needed to push on to the next destination. Barbara says one of these days, I will slow down and smell the roses.
