Coach Buddy Lowe Remembered
This article appeared on the sports page of the Orlando Sentinel. After it appeared I was made aware of the article and I emailed Joe Williams who was the writer of the article and told him of Coach Lowe's career in Umatilla and his impact on our high school. Mr. Williams said he was only made aware of Coach Lowe's time in Umatilla after the fact. As a matter of fact, elsewhere in the Umatilla section of this web site, is a photo of Coach Lowe attending the 1989 class reunion of the class of 1959. I think those of us who played for him in football, basketball and baseball will always remember his influence. Even though the words in the article are about Leesburg, Eustis and Mount Dora, they ring true for his time in Umatilla.
